NEW YORK TIMES (NYTimes.com)

YVC Library & Media Services now provides YVC students, faculty, and staff with online access to the New York Times.  The Group Pass allows each YVC student, faculty, and staff member to claim an online subscription to NYTimes.com, New York Times mobile apps, and New York Times in Education. This service gives you full access to the extensive news, multimedia, and archives of The New York Times without needing your own subscription.*

To activate your pass, follow these steps:

  • Follow this link to the Group Pass Activation Page.
  • Log in with your YVC ID number and last name, if prompted (off campus).
  • Click on Create Account.
  • Note your account expiration date. Once your pass is activated, you can enjoy access to NYTimes.com from any network or location.
  • Stay logged in to your NYTimes.com account to have seamless access for the duration of your pass.

EXPIRATION DATE:  Access via Group Pass expires after one year, but then it can be renewed through the activation link on this page.

NYTIMES APPS:  Go to nytimes.com/mobile to access the NYTimes smartphone and tablet apps for iPhone, Android, and Windows. You may also access the NYTimes.com web site using a browser on your device. NYTimes.com passes do not include e-reader editions.

FOR EDUCATION:  Access is also provided to New York Times in Education, which provides resources designed for Educators, such as:

  • Discipline-specific areas of study (more will follow)
  • General Instructional Strategies to promote student achievement
  • Co-Curricular Activities, including events, discussions, and contests
  • A library of curated content from influential educators around the world, recommended NYTimes.com articles, and real life teaching applications

Note:  Access to the New York Times in Education site requires a separate New York Times in Education account. Create an account using your YVC e-mail address at http://nytimesineducation.com/register/.

ALREADY HAVE A DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION?  If you plan to use the same email address, you must "disconnect" the email address from the paid service by cancelling that subscription before the email address is available to connect to the complimentary access. The "disconnect" can sometimes take 1-2 days, but has been done in as few as 1-2 hours. To cancel an existing PAID subscription, contact NYT Customer Care at customercare@nytimes.com or 800.591.9233.

QUESTIONS?  Ask a Librarian or call Raymond Library, 509.574.4991 option 2.

*NYTimes.com passes do not include Times Insider content or digital versions of The New York Times Crossword. NYT mobile apps are not supported on all devices. Access to archived articles from 1923 to 1980 is limited and does not replace database services to which YVC already subscribes.
